Annual "Girls" Weekend

The Last Resort Inn has been the site of my best friend and my annual "girls" weekend for the past 19 years. The Inn reflects the warmth and personality of its owner Mary and that's what keeps us coming back for more. This is no cookie-cutter B&B. The Inn is full of Mary's original art as well as artwork and craft items from Mary's world travels. There is something new and interesting every year. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and full of light. The Inn is restful and energizing at the same time ... the perfect combination!

Love This Place ... and Have for the Past Ten Years

My wife and I have visited at the Last Resort (LR) each summer over the past 10 years. Most certainly, the LR is quite different from all the other Inns in the area!! LR Inn is a block to the beach and has a front porch that is an incomparable place for a glass of wine at sunset! And yes, the furniture is eclectic. yes, the gardens are kind of an organized beautiful wildness ...and yes, Mary, the owner/innkeeper, is an, exuberant loveable character! Good natured... but... if you've been to beach please wash the sand off your feet before you come in the house! For us the LR Inn is a fun getaway place. Rooms are small but clean and comparatively speaking, ... inexpensive. No TV or internet which is exactly what I'm vacationing from! Breakfast is not a sit down four -course meal .. more of a continental approach which suits me because if we're real hungry we love the local flavor of the Phoenix Street Cafe. In all the best ways, LR Inn reminds me of visiting my Aunt Dolly's lake cottage as a child!

Relaxing Beach Town

This is the third year we have stayed at the B&B. It is a half-block walk to the public beach and a short walk downtown to all the shops & restaurants. The inn was built in the 1880's and the innkeeper has recently put in new carpet, windows, wood floors and a new TV in the lobby. The rooms are clean and air conditioned. Each room has a unique decor, which can be construed as eccentric. Breakfast is mostly breads, muffins, fruit, and yogurt. Do try it out! Good Location, Good Price, and great city.

Great Location

For the past couple of years I have stayed at The Last Resort Bed & Breakfast and I'm excited to say that both visits have been wonderful! The location is wonderful, just a walk from the beautiful beaches of South Haven and downtown area. The surroundings of the Bed & Breakfast are beautiful. The rooms are tastefully decorated and there's enough living space for all guests. I would recommend this bed & breakfast over the other few in the area for price and quality. I'm looking forward to many more years with Mary and The Last Resort.

Affordable, Comfortable & Great Location

After falling in love with this B&B and wanting to recommend it to other worldly travelers, my husband and I found the weekend get-away to be exactly what our spirits were yearning for: laid-back ease, lake views from the room, strolls to near-by restaurants and pier, and lots of love... and all very much affordable. The Inn-Keeper and her Colombian husband were an interesting pair and always happy to make our stay a happy one. I have already recommended this place to friends and family for quick get-away's to a small resort town on the Lake! They have a bike rack too.

Highly Recommended for a Very Nice Time

I love this place. . This is a wonderful, colorful and cheery place to stay. Very clean, nice rooms, great common areas and fabulous art gallery. There are many places to relax in the exotic gardens and one leaves this place feeling relaxed and invigorated. On occasion I have participated in music and dancing activities and enjoy every bit of my time with the owners. If you like color and fun, then this is the place to stay. I come here whenever I want a quick getaway and highly recommend it.

A Diamond in the Ruff!

I have traveled all over the U.S. and Europe and what sticks out in an Bed and Breakfast for me is the interesting ones. Artwork is everywhere and there is a lovely gallery. The gardens are natural and tons of places to sit and take advantage of the views. The owners are fascinating. They have traveled all over the country. Alberto is from Columbia and a true artisan. Mary is an artist, singer, dancer and flutist, her laugh is infectious. Every room is eclectic and clean. The location is outstanding with unbelievable views of the lake and river. The sunsets are to die for. Breakfast is casual with a breakfast bar. Yes, this a quirky Bed and breakfast, but one I will never forget. I would certainly check it out.

Definitely Return!!!!!

This Inn was booked several times before we found an date. We loved staying there! it was beautifully decorated and the character and charm of the Inn pale in comparison to the Innkeepers! It is a must visit!!!

Can't Wait to Get Back

I LOVE this place. Its a comfortable and fun atmosphere with wonderful people who run it. I will always stay at this resort and plan to come to South Haven more regularly and have hopes I will catch one of the specialty dance evenings that I attended once. It's clean, cute, and a short walk to the beaches and town. I have stayed several times already in the past years and I have lots of fun there.

Thank You from the Bottom of Our Heart

...for opening up your heart and your home to us over the past 15 years. The Last Resort has been a true blessing to our spirits and we always seem more alive and 'awake' after returning home from a weekend in South Haven. Our times away from home could never be so pleasant and enjoyable if it weren't for you and your relaxing, cozy and warm B&B. Your continuous updates and changes to the B&B always seem to amaze us and we feel as if we've grown and evolved together with you and the building over the past many years. I am a true supporter of the place - the beautiful gardens, the wrap-around front deck with amazing views of the setting sun, the back deck overlooking the River Harbor, the local art gallery, the HISTORY of the place so evident in every nook and cranny, and even the travel stories told by both you and your husband. We feel so fortunate to have found your place! Thank you, Mary. And we are counting on you, Mary, to remain with the B&B so that we can continue our weekend get-away's together now and in the future...
